Our Board of Directors
Jackie Miles, Chair
Jackie was excited to move to Golden in 2017, but is originally from Ontario with a pit stop in Alberta before she continued west. She is a librarian with years of experience working with newcomers at Calgary Public Library, who is now fortunate enough to work from home and enjoy mountain life. She is an enthusiastic supporter of food banks and excited to be able to give back to her new community as a part of this board.
Carolyn Brown - Vice Chair
Kendyn Mackenzie, Treasurer
Kendyn and his family moved to Golden in May 2017 from Nampa, Alberta. He came to a new job at the Silica plant outside of town. After a year working there, he and his family opened the new Yaldilicious ice cream store in May of 2018. Kendyn and his family enjoy camping, fishing, hiking and just love being in Golden and the mountains. Kendyn is a great business man in town and wants to be involved in the community and we welcome him as our new Treasurer on the Golden Food Bank Society Board.
Monica De, Secretary
After visiting Golden in 2003, and discovering how great the people, the ski resort and the mountain bike trails are, her and her husband decided to make Golden home. Since becoming a literacy coordinator for the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) in 2007, she has connected with the Golden Food Bank Society to promote community resources and educational programs for clients. Monica looks forward to working more closely with the Food Bank and helping people in need in our community.
Carl Trinkwon, Director
Alycia Weir, Director
Alycia is passionate about food as a tool for community building. In her previous work, Alycia has facilitated workshops and international programs with a focus on food security and social justice. She has worked with food banks, soup kitchens and community kitchens. Alycia is looking forward to learning more about food insecurity in Golden and how we can eliminate the need for emergency food.
Nicole Carter, Director
Originally from Southern Ontario, Nicole has called Golden her home for the past decade. Working in the customer service industry in such a small town, formerly as a restaurant server and currently as the financial services officer for the local Credit Union, has allowed Nicole to grow lasting relationships with a large part of the community and believes the Food Bank to be the perfect way to give back to a community that has provided so much for her.
