The NEW Food Bank Garden has been producing zucchinis, tomatoes, kale, beets, carrots, beans and MORE for our clients all summer long! In the coming weeks we will be harvesting all of the remaining veggies and putting the garden to sleep for the winter.
We want to thank all of our hard working volunteers who helped bring this vision to life! We had 45 volunteers come out to help on our Garden Build Day, several classes from Alexander Park Elementary School help plant seeds and starter plants, Board members who helped with the finishing touches and LOTS of tourists and community members stop in to check out what we were growing. THANK YOU ALL! Looking forward to another bountiful season in 2017!

Making sure each child in Golden has access to a healthy breakfast before classes! This is one more way for us to tackle hunger in our community!
Bananas, bananas, BANANAS!
Over the past year we have rescued over 180 Kg of bananas from the landfill through our Food Recovery Program. Many of these were distributed fresh to our clients, but some needed to be frozen to be preserved. Each week, we offer these frozen bananas to clients to use for baking and in smoothies, however they are starting to pile up quicker than we can distribute them! We have so many we want to share with the community! Contact Us if you'd like some!
We have partnered with WildSafeBC to help reduce human wildlife conflict and increase food security in our community! Find out more!
Learn more about our Food Recovery Program and how you can be a part of it! In 2016 we have rescued nearly 10,000 kg of food for redistribution to our clients!
